Happy New Year's Eve!

2013--what a year! I know that I documented most of this already but I figured it would be better to have it all in one post so that years down the road when I want to remember the year I became a published author, I can find it easily and reminisce. :) January: I decided I was going to publish Lark after working on it for a year I couldn't believe how thick it was! Pretty paperbacks! February: I published my debut novel Lark #3 Bestseller in Fantasy March: I sold over 8K copies of Lark this month alone! It was insane! I haven't had that sort of success with the other two books (...yet but a girl can hope) so this was a HUGE deal for me! April: My husband tore his ACL playing in a basketball game for charity which resulted in a surgery and being off work for the next 3 months. May: Blondie #1 turned 6 Book signing at Minerva's June: I had my first book signing at Minerva's Candy Shop  I had surgery to remo

Pieces of Me: Teaser #3

This will likely be the last teaser of Pieces of Me before it's released because my fingers got a little itchy this afternoon and it's currently being "processed" ;) “ Holden, don't kiss me.”   He blows out a gush of air, tilting his head towards the star-strewn sky before looking back at me with those   crazy, intense eyes that make me feel like I'm the only girl in the entire world. “Okay, I won't kiss you. Not  today. But someday, it's going to happen.”   “I hope not. It would ruin everything,” I whisper softly.   “I disagree, because Aria, if, no when you ever decide to kiss me...” He steps closer, leaning down until our  noses practically touch before continuing, “ I can guarantee I’ll be the last guy you ever kiss.”   “Don’t hold your breath.” The words come out a little too breathy. I feel my cheeks redden in  embarrassment and silently pray he doesn’t notice. But the smirk painted on h

Pieces of Me TEASER #2

Pieces of Me  Dec 31st 2013 All the doubts that have been weighing me down for the last  few months fall away like the leafs in the autumn, making  room for the new buds of spring after the harsh cold of  winter has been lifted. I'd like to say that I am finally at a place where my heart  can finally make room for Holden but the truth is, he's been  in there all along, just waiting for the chance to bloom.  Add to Goodreads

Top 100 Customer Favorites of 2013

Lark made Amazon's Top 100 Kids & Teens Kindle Books of 2013 !!! I'm still in shock! I didn't even know this was a "thing" but I'm certainly thrilled that it is and that Lark made the list! I mean, I'm on the same list as books by Richelle Mead and Abbi Glines---two of my favorites! It's like a complete dream! Eek! That's all! I'm sure I can write something more eloquent later! Right now, I still shaking and cheesing like an idiot! Much love to you all! XOXO

Pieces of Me TEASER #1

Pieces of Me He doesn't say anything--he just pulls me into his arms and I let the waves of emotion crash down the  barriers I had so carefully constructed, smashing them to the ground with tsunami force, and I let it  because I know that Holden's arms are going to keep me upright. A years worth of tears spill onto his shirt—I didn't think it was possible to cry any more but I was  wrong. He holds me in his arms until my eyes are red and dry and my breathing is nothing more than  gasps of air and gulps as I try to regain a little of my composure. Despite the hindering hiccups, I feel  like I can breathe for the first time in a long time. “ So what does this mean?” he asks. “It means that I'm trying. Trying to be normal, to be the kind of girl who gets all giddy over her new  boyfriend, the kind of girl that smiles. But I'm not quite there yet. It means, that I'm asking for just a  little time.” “Time I can give. But Aria, do

Pieces of Me: Cover reveal and release date!

Aria Watkins’s life was on the perfect path, or so she thought. She and Sean had big plans for their future together. They were going to go off to college, get married, and have 2.5 kids. But when tragedy strikes, it destroys the heart of Aria and she's afraid she'll never be the same. Heartbroken and confused, Aria starts college a completely different person. She hardly recognizes the broken girl she's become, but she can't seem to find the strength  to put back together the pieces either. Enter Holden Whitmore. He's charming, considerate, and he's making it his mission to make her smile. At first, she isn’t impressed with him, but he’s persistent and soon she discovers there’s more to him than just a charming smile.  Aria was sure she'd never be able to move on with her life, but there's just something about Holden that makes her want to try. When her tragedy comes full circle, she’s left with a choice: Keep holding on to the pas

Tentative schedule for 2014

So I've actually accomplished a lot this week!I finished writing Pieces of Me. I'm just waiting for the last bit of notes from my beta readers and then I'll be sending it to Jenny at Editing4Indies--this is the first time I've had an actual editor so I'm excited! Once I finish final edits, I'll pick a release date and share the new cover. Komal Kant is in town this week. We've been working on the book we're co-writing, UNFAMILIAR. We've done a lot of character development, worked out a detailed outline and tweaking the plot. It's going to be amazing and I can't wait. We've written up to chapter 3 so far. Then last night while we were watching World War Z, I had some MAJOR inspiration (Weird, I know. And no, the inspiration is not at all zombie-related). You know how I started Lark and In the Shadows with a dream? Well, I wanted to continue that with Like the Dawn. I knew what/who I wanted her to dream about but I wasn't sure HOW

NaNo update: Final Week

Today is my 29th birthday. Man, I feel OLD. But more important than my birthday, it's the last day of NaNoWriMo. I haven't posted much this month and I'd like to blame it entirely on the fact that I've been writing day and night all month but that's just not the case--though I did write a lot this month, I also had several (albeit minor) setbacks. Take this week for example, I was on a writing roll Tuesday when my oldest daughter stepped on a piece of a wooden skewer (I guess that's the word? I just called it a giant toothpick) and I had to rush her (+ my two youngest and my two nephews...ages 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2--no joke. That's a baby a year, folks!) to the doctor because I couldn't pull it out myself. It was a pretty good size piece of wood and was so deep in her foot that only about 1/2-1 inch was visible. Looking back, I would've liked to see my face when our doctor pulled that sucker out. Though I'm sure my expression mirrored that of th

Link to Nook books

Lark and In the Shadows are now available on Nook! There will be no paperbacks available of either book until probably after the beginning of the year. Eden Crane will be designing a new cover for Lark and designing the cover of Like the Dawn in January with the same model she used to design the new cover for In the Shadows so I will probably wait for those to republish the paperbacks. I can't wait to see the new covers! Anyway, I will however work on getting both books back up on Smashwords and Kobo soon. In the meantime, they are available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble . I've been working on Pieces of Me (my NaNo novel) and I love Aria and Holden so much that I can't wait for you to meet them! XOXO

Surprise! New Cover for In the Shadows

Soooooooo I'm sure you've noticed by now that In the Shadows has a new cover. I don't really want to get into details on why I made the change, just know that it wasn't what I had planned because I truly did love the original cover BUT I'm really loving the new cover that Eden Crane designed for me just as much. Now if I could only figure out this whole formatting nonsense and find a nice Goodreads Librarian to update the cover for me.....*sigh* so much to do, so little time. I'm officially behind now on NaNo because I spent the last 24 hours stressing out but I'm hoping to do some major catch up tomorrow. For now, I'm calling it a night---I'm exhausted! XOXO

NaNoWriMo

So I decided to commit to writing a 50,000 word novel in the month of November---eek! That's a lot of pressure! So far I'm set to finish on Nov 21st so I hope I can keep up the pace! This is the first year I've participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) so I'm excited! I decided to write Pieces of Me this month. It's a story I've been wanting to write for a while so I'm excited about it. Recently I randomly entered a giveaway with Cover Art Collective  and I won a free cover design by Delilah Stephans Designs . Perfect timing, right? So here is the cover of my NaNoWriMo novel, Pieces of Me: And of course I had to share the blurb: Aria Watkins’s life was on the perfect path, or so she thought. She and Sean had big plans for their future together. They were going to go off to college, get married, and have 2.5 kids. But when tragedy strikes, it destroys the heart of Aria and she's afraid she'll never be the same. Hea

Indie Mash-up 2013

Hey everybody! I know that pretty much everyone who follows this blog is also on my Facebook Author page BUT I wanted to share a more in-depth post about Mash-up--after all it was my first big author event! So Thursday, Komal Kant arrived at my house for our photoshoot! We got some really great images but two really stood out as our potential cover for Unfamiliar. Now that Komal has published Wrong Side of Town, we will be starting our little book baby soon! Checking out the photos Friday after my husband got off work, we headed down to Arkansas. We're only a little over an hour away so it wasn't that bad of a drive at all but I was really stressed out because our friend Autumn Doughton was having the trip from HELL. Her flight got re-routed mid-flight because two of the generators broke then her flight got cancelled and she thought she was trapped in Nashville. Luckily for her, she was offered a ride. During the road trip however there was another delay because....And

Early Release!

Sneak Peek #2: In the Shadows

Last week's teaser featured Grey, and while In the Shadows will have plenty of tension between him and Mia, I didn't want Jacoby fans to despair---he's still just as charming as he was before---so I'm sharing a FUN teaser this week. :) Realization lights up on my Mom’s face. She gingerly rips off a corner revealing the familiar edge of a canvas. She quickly removes the rest of the paper, gasping when the picture comes in full view. She studies it for a minute before looking back up at Jacoby with wide eyes and a beaming smile. “I don’t know what to say.” She laughs. “You did this?” “It was harder than it looks,” he admits, and I can practically hear his smirk. My curiosity can’t take anymore so I bound down the stairs to see firsthand what Jacoby has painted. “Hi! When did you get here?” I ask as I reach the bottom of the stairs. I don’t want them to know I was spying on them after all. “Jacoby has painted me a masterpiece!” Mom can barely co

Sneak Peek: In the Shadows

We are less than  a month away from release day! Eek! So I thought it was about time I started sharing some teasers.... Paperback!       “Grey, do you think it’s too late?” He nods sadly. “I’m sorry, Mia, but if they have her, I’m not sure if there is anything we can really do.” The world distorts itself around me like a Fun House mirror, making me feel dizzy and nauseated. My lungs collapse in on themselves as the furious beating of my broken heart threatens to slam right out of my ripped open chest. “I—can’t—breathe,” I gasp as Grey pulls me into his arms and holds me close to his chest, whispering words that I don’t understand. My tears fall freely, staining his shirt with wet splotches but he doesn’t care, he continues to hold me tight, comforting me just like he has done before. I feel his lips press down on the top of my head and even though this sweet gesture is completely innocent, my stomach flips unexpectedly which in turn elicits a crashing wav

In the Shadows Contest!

Last night I officially finished writing IN THE SHADOWS the sequel to LARK. *happy dance* (feel free to join me) (ya know ya wanna!) Releasing Oct 1st---->That's just ONE month away! I'm so excited about this installment of Lark's story. Well, I think I'm equal parts excited and scared out of my mind that it won't live up to your expectations. But I think that's pretty normal, right? (I hope!) Since the editing part of the process is now in full swing, I'll start sharing teasers soon and in the mean time, because I'm just so excited to have officially typed THE END that I think a little game is in order! Who's in? In this book Lark encounters an inscription that is written in the ancient language of the Light Elves and of course, she can't read it! (Silly girl, maybe next time you'll pay better attention when the schmexy Greyson St. Clair is trying to educate you) I was thinking that the first person who can

Check out this Lark Inspired Etsy Treasury Jessica Woody put together: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/ODQwNTkwNHwyNzI0ODg0MTM0/lark-a-novel-by-erica-cope?ref=af_you_tre Pretty awesome, right? I love it to pieces! Still working on In the Shadows but my good friend Michelle Flick is editing it from the beginning already which I'm hoping allows me to publish pretty quickly after finishing up the last few chapters (there will be 20 total.). I just sent her chapters 8-12. I finished up chapter 13 yesterday and my plan is to finish writing chapter 14 today. I already have the remaining chapters "started" (some more than others) so it's just a matter of "finishing" them and making sure I've tied up most of the loose ends (I promise, I'll never write a cliffhanger) while setting up for the third and final book. It's definitely coming along! Tonight I'm going to see The Mortal Instruments with my friend Sarah--super excited! I started re
